Does the attorney have to keep me informed?
Yes. Attorneys are required by law to keep you informed regarding the status of your case. This does not mean you need to call or meet with the attorney on a weekly basis, but when important developments occur in your case, you should be notified in a timely manor. Ask the attorney how they intend to communicate with you regarding the status of your case. You can request an update whenever you feel it is necessary.
